Enloe Magnet High School’s Chandler Telfaire flies high with Eagles

Look in the sky at Enloe Magnet High School. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s senior Chandler Telfaire.

“He’s got that Clark Kent, like quiet, wears glasses, always like low key, but then when he gets on the football field, he’s a completely different person,” Enloe football head coach Ryan Clark said.

Telfaire has spent all four years at Enloe, playing football, growing into a leader.

“I’m glad I came here, I made a lot of new friends and the coaching staff is great here, as well as the teachers, they’re nice, I understand them and I’m developing great here.”

“He’s a great individual, he’s a great teammate, he’s one of those guys you kind of build your football program around,” Clark said.

Math teacher Brittany Miller gives rave reviews on his determination.

“I love that when he doesn’t understand, he always asks questions, and he accepts that there’s going to be a healthy amount of failure, right, he’s going to try it one time and not get it. It never discourages him, he always keeps trying,” Miller said.

Giving extra effort runs in the family. His sister, MacKenzie, won the Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award in 2021.

Chandler spent years with the Boy Scouts and is now an Eagle Scout. He’s very active in community work.

“I’m in a program called Jack and Jill, that’s where young African Americans, we come together and do community service projects and we just want to help the community in the best ways possible,” Telfaire said.

On top of all that he’s heading to Delaware to play football and pursue his education in the fall.

“I was able to develop the mindset, just to do the best you can, and I wanted to be the best.”

“He’s someone that did everything right. He’s allowed our football program to grow and our football program is going to be better because Chandler Telfaire was here.

And that’s why Chandler Telfaire is this week’s winner of the Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award.
