Jan. 15, 12:42 p.m. – Simspon landed his first offer from an SEC program on Wednesday. The 6-foot-8 prospect is coming off of a First Team All-Conference season as a junior in 2024. He was previously offered by Virginia Tech in June. Coach Bryan Davis has previously told us that Simpson has the potential to play at the highest of levels if he continues to develop. The Virginia Tech and Florida offers could be the start of a significant recruiting process.
Career Timeline
- 2022-23: As a freshman, Simpson was called up to play some on North Brunswick’s varsity team. He recorded two total tackles. The Scorpions finished with an 11-2 overall record after a trip to the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A East playoffs.
- 2022-23: Simpson played in 11 varsity basketball games for North Brunswick, averaging 0.6 points and 1.6 rebounds.
- 2023-24: Simpson played a bigger role on varsity as a sophomore. He was credited with six tackles on defense, a tackle for a loss, and a sack. As a sophomore, he took strides learning how to play offensive line.
- 2023-24: Simpson played in 15 varsity basketball games for North Brunswick, averagine 2.1 points and 2.0 rebounds.
- 2023-24: In an offseason Huddle column for HSOT Insiders, Simpson was named as a lineman to watch.
- 2024-25: Simpson had a breakout season as a junior and earned First Team All-Conference honors in the Mideastern 3A/4A. On defense, he recorded 27 total tackles, four tackles for a loss, a sack, and a forced fumble.
- 2024-25: At the time of writing this update, Simpson is averaging 8.6 points and 6.7 rebounds for North Brunswick’s basketball team.
