NCHSAA head football coaches who won a state championship at multiple schools
Seven coaches in the history of the N.C. High School Athletic Association have won a state championship as the head coach at multiple schools.
Sam Greiner is the most recent to do it. Greiner won the 2017 4A state championship at Harding University High School. The following season, he became the head coach at Hickory Ridge High School. He took over the West Charlotte High School football program ahead of the 2020 season. In 2004, he led West Charlotte to the 3A state championship.
Ironically, West Charlotte is one of the schools involved for another one of these multi-school champion coaches: Tom Knotts. Knotts won the 1995 4A title at West Charlotte before going on his run at Independence in the 2000s.
Bobby Poss is the only head coach in NCHSAA history to win a state title at three or more schools. He won two at Seventy-First High in Fayetteville, one at South View High in Hope Mills, and two at A.C. Reynolds High in Asheville.
