State champion Nick Bazzle retires as North Lincoln’s football coach
North Lincoln High School will have a new head football coach in 2005.
Veteran head coach Nick Bazzle has left the post and says he’s wrapped up his coaching career. He confirmed the news with HighSchoolOT.
As the head coach at Newton-Conover High School, Bazzle led the Red Devils to a 2A state championship with a 51-28 win over Tarboro. He led Newton-Conover for 12 seasons from 1999 through 2011.
Bazzle took over Alexander Central’s program in 2012 and stayed there through the 2015 season.
He returned to the head coaching ranks at North Lincoln in 2018. He never had a losing season at North Lincoln.
His final team at North Lincoln finished with a 12-2 overall record and nearly beat defending 3A champion Hickory in the fourth round. The Knights finished as a top 25 team in North Carolina, according to the Final HSOT Statewide Top 25.
Overall, Bazzle has a career win-loss record of 187-108. He’s had nine seasons with double-digit wins.
His seven seasons at North Lincoln made him the longest tenured head football coach in the school’s history. North Lincoln opened in 2003.
