Caiden Everette scores 3 times as (1) Tarboro shuts out (4) Pender
(1) Tarboro advanced to the semifinals of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A state playoffs on Friday night.
The Vikings dominated (4) Pender, pitching a shutout in a 50-0 win. Caiden Everette led the way for the Vikings with three rushing touchdowns.
Tarboro scored twice in the first quarter — a three-yard score by Kamerin McDowell-Moore and a 50-yard run from Mason Satterfield. The Vikings led 16-0 after one quarter.
All of Everette’s touchdowns came in the second quarter. He scored on runs of five, one, and four yards. Satterfield also scored a second touchdown in the quarter on a 50-yard run.
Tarboro led 44-0 at halftime and the game resumed in the third quarter with a running clock.
The Vikings got one last touchdown in the second half on a 14-yard run from Jermaine Staton to win 50-0.
Tarboro will face the winner of (3) Wilson Prep and (10) Lakewood in the 1A eastern regional championship game next week. The winner will advance to the 1A state championship game.
