Cary, N.C. — After leading No. 3 seed Florida State 2-1 at half, the Seminoles score two goals in the 64th and 68th minute to beat No. 4 seed North Carolina in the ACC Tournament Championship game on Sunday, 3-2. It’s the fifth straight ACC Tournament Championship for Florida State. Three of the five wins have comes against North Carolina.
Goals and points leader Kate Faasse score two more goals in the first half. Maddie Dahlien drew a foul inside the box in the 31st minute and Faasse finished the penalty kick. Florida State found the back of the net just just three minutes later, an unassisted goal from Taylor Suarez.
Just before half, Faasse scored again with a header, assisted by Bella Sember. Faasse is the first Tar Heels with a brace in the ACC Championship game since Casey Nogueira in 2009.
The second half was all Florida State. Taylor Huff scored on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute and Wriann Hudson added the go-ahead goal in the 67th minute.
No. 8 UNC will find out its NCAA Tournament path when the bracket is revealed on Monday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
