Cape Fear Christian claims NCISAA D2 girls golf title; Cary Christian’s Lauren Davis wins individual championship
Cape Fear Christian is the smallest N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association school that plays girls golf.
But the Eagles from Erwin are Division II state champions anyway.
CFCA edged Gaston Christian by nine strokes over the two days of competition at nearby Keith Hills Golf Course in Buies Creek. Westchester Country Day was 11 strokes back in third.
Meanwhile, the D2 leader in handicap differential on the season, Cary Christian’s Lauren Davis, stepped up when it mattered the most and won the individual title. Davis shot a 4-over 148, clipping Westchester Country Day’s Janiya Brown.
