The Dudley Panthers from Greensboro showed their superiority in the second half, defeating top-ranked Crest. The game between the two undefeated teams ended in a 46-34 win for the Panthers.

At the end of the first half, Dudley was ahead 20-19 and was able to exhaust the Chargers. In the final quarter, the Panthers extended their lead to a maximum of 19 points.

Andrew Attmore, quarterback for the Panthers, showed impressive accuracy in the second half by successfully completing several long passes to his top receivers Nasir Newkirk and C.J. Neely. Koredell Barltley, a junior wide receiver for Dudley, made two significant touchdowns in the second half to give the Panthers an advantage. The first was an 85-yard kickoff return at the start of the second half, and the second was a catch after a deflection on a fourth-and-goal play from the eight-yard line.

On the evening, Aiden Carson, a junior running back, shone for Crest. He scored three touchdowns by rushing and one by receiving.

Dudley’s eventful evening began with a successful interception and touchdown return against Crest’s quarterback, Ny’Tavious Huskey.

Crest answered with a touchdown by Carson, but Dudley’s LJ Southern reclaimed the lead for the Panthers by scoring a rushing touchdown. Southern also scored Dudley’s last touchdown, giving him a total of two touchdowns for the game.

The Chargers retaliated with a touchdown pass from Huskey to Carson, while Attmore responded with a quarterback keeper for a six-yard score.

Before halftime, Carson scored his third touchdown, but Crest was unable to make the extra point. Despite this, Dudley continued to hold the lead.

Crest countered Barltey’s touchdown return with a 15-yard scoring pass from Huskey to Javarius Green, a wide receiver committed to UNC. Huskey then successfully completed a two-point conversion, bringing the score to a tie at 27 with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter.

During the following drive, Bartley scored a touchdown by receiving the ball. Despite Crest’s efforts to defend, the Chargers accidentally knocked the ball into Bartley’s gut at an odd angle, resulting in a score as he was already in the end zone.

A quick turnover resulted in an impressive 40-yard touchdown pass from Attmore to Newkirk, a promising junior player for the FBS. This gave Dudley a sudden lead of two scores.

During the following possession by the Chargers, Dudley created a turnover by stopping Huskey in the backfield on fourth down.

Attmore threw a long pass to Neely, helping Southern score for the second time. With 5:21 remaining in the game, Dudley was leading 46-27 after a failed extra point attempt.

On the following drive for Crest, Carson scored his fourth touchdown. However, the Chargers were unsuccessful in completing an onside kick.

The Chargers of Crest High School finished their season with an impressive 13-1 record. They were able to claim the highly respected championship title in the Big South 3A Conference.
