Our prediction for this Nations League match:

Hungary

Hungary

Netherlands

Netherlands

Puskas Arena will be the centre of attention when Hungary and Netherlands lock horns in an eagerly-awaited Nations League game on Friday. The Hungarians failed to impress in a goalless draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina and, as a result, home win should not be considered. This game comes too early for Ferencvaros defender Endre Botka (injury), but Liverpool ace Dominik Szoboszlai made the cut.

The Oranje, on the other hand, are still without Man City defender Nathan Ake, who remains in the recovery room, alongside Ajax winger Steven Berghuis. Aston Villa left-back Ian Maatsen is widely expected to replace Ake in the starting XI, while all Jurrien Timber, Wout Weghorst, Memphis Depay, and Frenkie de Jong has been left out with injuries. Ronald Koeman, though, still has a number of high-profile players to choose from and we predict that Cody Gakpo and Co. are going to prove their worth on the field.

Highlighted Player (Memphis Depay):

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay is a Dutch winger who started his professional career at PSV Eindhoven. During the 2014/2015 Eredivisie campaign the pacey footballer was on Manchester United’s radar and on June 12, 2015 the Premier League club confirmed the signing of the Dutchman. Many people expected that he would impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League season, but the former PSV ace played below expectations for the Red Devils, scoring only two goals (one assist) during the season.

After playing only for league games for Man Utd in the 2016/2017 season, Memphis Depay was sold to Olympique Lyon on January 20, 2017. Depay signed a four-and-a-half year deal with les Gones for a fee of around £16 million. The Dutch winger was producing fine performances for Lyon in the 2016/2017 season; he scored five goals for the club, while providing eight assists for his teammates.

Memphis Depay made his senior debut for Netherlands on October 15, 2013 in a 2-0 win over Turkey. Depay did well to win the 2011 European Championship with Netherlands U17 team.

Highlighted Team (Hungary):

Hungary

Widely known as the Mighty Magyars during the 1950’s, Hungary national team had the world at its feet as the team featuring Ferenc Puskas, Sandor Kocsis and Zoltan Czibor reached the final of the 1954 World Cup, while recording several impressive wins over England and other top sides in international friendlies.

Hungary also made it to the semi-final at the Euro 1964 and Euro 1972, but they have since largely struggled to return to old glory days. The barren run finally came to an end as Foci defeated Norway in the play-off to qualify for the Euro 2016 finals, but there still appears to be a huge gap behind the top European sides.

Long-serving goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly has managed to break a 58-year record held by Jozsef Bozsik, having surpassed the 101-cap mark, but Ferenc Puskas still remains the top goalscorer in the history of the national team with an unbelievable record of 84 goals in 85 caps, followed by Sandor Kocsis, who has 75 goals in 68 appearances.
