Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for parts of North Carolina near Charlotte and through the mountains, and the inclement weather on Thursday and Friday is expected to spread much further east.

Hurricane Helene will make landfall in Florida and move north through Georgia and into the Carolinas. While it will not be a hurricane when it arrives in North Carolina, the impacts are likely to be significant, especially in the western part of the state. Major flooding is possible in the mountains, and wind damage will be possible in some areas.

The expected impacts from the hurricane is causing major disruptions to the high school football schedule for Week 6.

Some games were played on Wednesday night, while others were moved up to Thursday night. Some games have already been postponed until Saturday or Monday, but there are still some teams hoping to play on Friday night.
