The good news for the Carolina Panthers – its offense looked explosive in the win against the Raiders on Sunday.
The bad news for the Carolina Panthers – one of their better playmakers will miss some time.
Adam Thielen was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday the team announced. The 34-year-old wide receiver suffered the injury on a 31-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders.
By rule, Thielen must miss at least four games before he can return. The earliest Thielen could return is for the Week 8 away game against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 27.
So far this season, Thielen had eight catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. While Thielen may not be the most explosive athlete in his 11th season in the NFL, his consistency has proven important for Carolina. Last season Thielen led the Panthers with 103 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. Expect more opportunities for receivers like Diontae Johnson, Xavier Legette and Jonathan Mingo.
In addition, started safety Jordan Fuller was placed on injured reserve. The former Los Angeles Ram had seven tackles so far this season for the Panthers. He is also dealing with a hamstring injury, per team reporter Darin Gantt.
The Panthers will look to turn one win into two when they host the 0-3 Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Bank of America Stadium. You can watch the game on FOX 50.
