Expected rain causes some schools to move football games from Friday

Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 is expected to become a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico this week before making landfall in Florida, and while we don’t expect hurricane conditions in North Carolina, it’s possible there could be a significant amount of rain.

The current forecast track takes the storm closer to the western part of North Carolina, which is where the heaviest rain is currently expected.

Some parts of the mountains could receive more than five inches of rain, with an inch or more expected in the Triangle, Fayetteville, and parts east.

On Monday, some schools began to move their varsity football games to Thursday night, where the chance of rain is smaller. There will likely be additional changes through the week.

HighSchoolOT is tracking all the changes. To report a game schedule change, please send an email to [email protected].
