The matchup between the top-ranked Myers Park and seventh-ranked Richmond has been rescheduled for a future date.

The highly anticipated rematch of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4A championship game from last year will be continuing.

The Myers Park and Richmond boys basketball teams, ranked first and seventh respectively, were interrupted in the second quarter with 2:59 remaining due to a leak in the roof at Myers Park.

At the point of the interruption, the Mustangs were ahead of Richmond by a score of 27-21.

Supporters of the Mustangs (0-1) and Raiders (0-0) were instructed to exit the stadium and were then greeted with a heavy rainstorm outside.

Officials have stated that the game will resume at a later date.

Ideally, a day with plenty of sunshine.

At the time of the pause, Paul McNeil Jr., who is committed to N.C. State and was previously named the N.C. Gatorade Player of the Year, led the game with 17 points for Richmond.

Sadiq White scored 10 points for Myers Park, who was playing their second game of the season while the Raiders were playing their first. Myers Park was able to defeat Richmond in the 4A championship game last year.
