Steady rain postpones some Week 4 football games in Triangle, eastern NC

A steady rain moved through parts of North Carolina on Friday morning, some of it heavy at times.

The National Weather Service issued flood advisories in the central part of the state, including in Wake, Harnett, and Lee counties.

Between 2-4.5 inches of rain had fallen in parts of Lee and Harnett counties with additional rain on the way. Wake County had seen up to 1.5 inches of rain with another 1.5 inches expected.

Rain has also impacted areas in eastern North Carolina and along the coast. Parts of Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, and Pamlico counties were placed under a flood advisory where 1-3 inches of rain had fallen and another 2-3 inches of rain was possible.

While the chance of rain is expected to decrease throughout the afternoon and into the evening, some showers could persist until 10 p.m. There is a chance of some thunderstorms as well, meaning lightning could become an issue for games.

Among the changes to the schedule is the HighSchoolOT Game of the Week between SouthWest Edgecombe and Tarboro. That game has been postponed until Saturday at 12 p.m.

  • Jacksonville @ West Carteret — Postponed until Monday at 6 p.m.
  • Kinston @ Washington — Kickoff moved to 8 p.m.
  • Millbrook @ Broughton — Postponed until Saturday at 12 p.m.
  • Nash Central @ Beddingfield — Game has been moved to Nash Central
  • North Wake Saints @ Ravenscroft — Postponed until Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • South Garner @ Enloe — Postponed until Monday at 6:30 p.m.
  • South Granville @ Riverside — Postponed until Monday at 7 p.m.
  • SouthWest Edgecombe @ Tarboro — Postponed until Saturday at 12 p.m.
  • Topsail @ Swansboro — Canceled, will not be rescheduled
