No. 8 Dudley runs away from Southeast Guilford in home opener

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Dudley is leaving little doubt through the opening two weeks of the season.

Seven different players combined to score seven touchdowns on Monday night in a 49-0 rout of Southeast Guilford.

At a time late in the second quarter, it appeared that Southeast Guilford was going to be down by just one score to Dudley when it got to halftime.

The Falcons made a meticulous drive down to the 3-yard line. On a fourth-and-goal with 30 seconds left in the first half, quarterback Alexander Marsh was picked off in the end zone by Robert McCollum, who returned it 98 yards to the Southeast 5-yard line. Marsh had a strong first half until that one mistake.

On the next play, Dudley senior athlete Jerron Blackwell rushed for a 5-yard touchdown as a wildcat quarterback. Suddenly, it was a 21-0 lead for the Panthers.

In the second half, Dudley kept the momentum and scored on rushing touchdowns by LJ Southern, Jayden Brown, and Brayden Jeffries, as well as a passing touchdown from Jaquez Crawford to Koredell Bartley. The game reached a running clock with 7:39 left in the third quarter.

The game was played at Dudley High on Monday. On Friday, lightning storms forced the game to be postponed.

It was the first home game of the season for Dudley (2-0 overall, 0-0 Mid-State 3A). The Panthers will host Hillside on Friday night. Southeast Guilford (1-1 overall, 0-0 Metro 4A) is set to travel to Lee County on Friday.
